2026 planning estimates from our calculator model and public rate cards. Follower figures are real, from our 7 October 2026 index snapshot. Production columns are our UGC rate model, which prices by follower tier only: it has no niche or country input. Posted columns are our influencer engine at platform-typical engagement, organic use and no exclusivity. How these rates are modelled.

What the index says about this line
Exclusivity is priced as a share of the video fee: 25% for 3 months, 50% for 6 and 100% for 12. A year of exclusivity therefore doubles the cost of a video, $150 plus $150 at the index median. The influencer engine prices it as a multiplier on posted rates instead, 1.25x for 90 days and 1.5x for six months. Because 78% of the creators in our index are nano tier, most exclusivity clauses are bought cheaply; it is the 7 niches whose top quarter reaches micro tier, travel first, where a 12 month clause climbs to $225.
What moves the price
How the category is defined
Skincare is a category. Beauty is a sector. The wider your definition, the more work the creator gives up and the higher the price, so define it narrowly and in writing. A vague category clause is either unenforceable or expensive, sometimes both.
The creator's existing commitments
A creator with a current competitor deal cannot grant exclusivity at any price until it expires. Ask before you negotiate, because this is the most common reason an exclusivity clause quietly fails to mean anything.
Whether it is mutual
Exclusivity usually binds only the creator. If you also commit to a minimum number of videos over the term, the clause becomes a partnership rather than a restriction and the price falls.
Volume commitment
A stated minimum number of videos over the term is the single largest lever on this line. It converts a restriction into a partnership, and creators will often halve the exclusivity premium for a credible commitment.
Retainer structure
A year of exclusivity belongs inside a retainer with guaranteed monthly deliverables. Split into a monthly fee, the exclusivity stops being a premium on one video and becomes the basis of the relationship, which is both cheaper and more durable.
Briefing and negotiating it
Define the category in a sentence naming the product type, not the sector. Name the term, the start date and the territory. Say whether the clause covers only paid brand work or also organic mentions, which are very different asks. Then say what you commit to in return, even if it is only a stated intention to reorder.
Ask whether you need it at all. Most brands buying exclusivity are protecting against a fear rather than a pattern, and it is the easiest line to cut from a quote. If you do need it, narrow the category and shorten the term before you negotiate the percentage, because both of those are free to you and valuable to the creator.
