2026 planning estimates from our calculator model and public rate cards. Follower figures are real, from our 7 October 2026 index snapshot. The niche factor is the influencer engine's Tech & gaming group (1.2x). Production columns are our UGC rate model, which prices by follower tier only: it has no niche or country input. Posted columns are our influencer engine at platform-typical engagement, organic use and no exclusivity. How these rates are modelled.

How tech compares
Tech creators are smaller than the index as a whole. The median tech creator has 1,328 followers against 1,680 across all 26,791 UGC-qualified creators, 21% fewer, which ranks tech 14th of the 18 niches we price by median following. 25% of tech creators have 5,000 or more followers, the point where our model moves a quote from nano to micro, against 22% index-wide.
The spread inside tech is wide: the top quarter starts at 5,056 followers, 9.9 times the bottom quarter's 512. That middle half straddles the nano and micro tiers, so the production quote runs from $150 at the bottom quarter to $225 at the top.
Posted rates are where tech carries a premium. The influencer engine puts tech in its Tech & gaming group at a 1.2x factor, so a sponsored TikTok video from a 10,000-follower creator prices at $120 against $100 at the lifestyle baseline. Production rates carry no niche factor at all. At the niche median the engine's platform floor of $60 applies, which is why the posted columns barely move across the bottom three rows.
Of the 1,211 tech creators in our index, 1,058 are on Instagram and 153 on TikTok (13%). TikTok tech creators have a median of 1,108 followers against 1,376 on Instagram, 19% lower. That gap is large enough to price separately: see TikTok tech UGC rates.
44% of tech creators list a portfolio, against 34% index-wide, so more of this niche can show finished work before you commit to a rate. The deepest markets are the United States (443), the United Kingdom (130) and Spain (49).
What moves a tech quote
Tech UGC is priced on explanation, not production. The shoot is usually a desk, a device and a person who can make a feature make sense in nine seconds. That is a writing skill, and the creators who have it charge more than their follower count suggests while costing less to work with, because the shoot itself is simple and repeatable.
Technical accuracy
Getting a spec, a setting or a workflow right takes preparation, and a wrong claim in a tech video is expensive to fix after it runs. Creators who prepare properly quote higher and revise less. Send documentation with the brief and the quote usually comes down rather than up.
Screen capture
App and software briefs need a clean screen recording alongside the talking head, which is a second capture and a synced edit. Treat it as part of the deliverable and price it as a 30 to 60 second video, or buy the raw footage add-on so your editor can assemble the walkthrough themselves.
Hardware access
If the creator needs the device, someone ships it, and the timeline stretches by a week each way. Shipping, customs and return terms belong in the brief. For a paid launch, sending two units to one creator is usually cheaper than sending one unit to two creators.
Briefing and negotiating tech UGC
Give the creator the feature, the audience and the one sentence you want them to land. Attach the documentation. Then say whether screen capture is needed, at what resolution, and whether the device goes back. Tech briefs fail on unstated assumptions about hardware and screen recording far more often than on creative direction.
Pay for hooks, not for length. In tech, three openers on one well explained demo will out test a longer video, and the model prices a hook variation at a fraction of a full video. Keep the paid usage term short on the first buy, because a tech feature can change in a quarter and a 12 month right on a video showing an old interface is money spent on a liability.
