The reason a rate per thousand followers is not the whole answer is that the multiplier falls as accounts grow. A nano account is priced at the full base, a micro account at 0.85, a mid tier account at 0.7. That is why a 100,000 follower account does not cost ten times a 10,000 follower account, and why the cost per engagement usually gets worse as you go up rather than better.

What the table is telling you
Each row is a follower size, priced at Instagram's typical engagement rate of 2.5% with no exclusivity and organic use only. A 10,000 follower account comes out at $85 typical for a feed post and $130 for a Reel. At 100,000 followers the same figures are $700 and $1,050. The band around each is 70% to 140% of typical, because negotiation and inbound demand move real quotes more than any formula does.
Engagement rate is the adjustment that matters most and the one brands most often skip. The engine scales the rate halfway toward the ratio of the creator's engagement against the platform typical, capped between 0.6 and 1.6. An account at double the typical rate is worth materially more than one at half, and paying the same for both is the most common way Instagram budgets get wasted.
Where usage rights sit on Instagram
The per post figure buys a post. Running that content as an ad is a separate right, and on Instagram it usually means a partnership ad from the creator's handle, which is the whitelisting arrangement rather than a plain usage licence. Our planning engine prices paid ads for 3 months at a factor of 1.4 on the post rate and 12 months at 1.8, while a simple brand repost is 1.15.
Those are multipliers on an audience fee, which is a different structure from UGC, where rights are a share of a production fee. If what you actually want is the content rather than the audience, the UGC model is much cheaper: a 15 to 30 second video at micro tier is $225 typical with 3 months of paid usage adding $55, against roughly $250 as the reference point our influencer engine compares to.
Instagram supply in our index
We hold 22,393 UGC-qualified Instagram creators against 1,639 on TikTok, out of 24,032 in total, with a median of about 1,400 followers. Instagram is where the depth is, which has a direct pricing consequence: an Instagram brief fills faster, and a brief that fills fast is one where you keep your negotiating position instead of raising the offer to close the gap.
It also means the realistic Instagram play at most budgets is volume in the nano and micro bands rather than one larger account. Ten accounts at $85 each buy ten audiences and ten creative variants. One account at $700 buys one of each, from the part of the market where the cost per engagement is worst.
Checking an Instagram quote in three minutes
Take the follower count, run it through the table above, and note the typical figure. Then ask the creator for their last 30 days of reach and engagement on Reels rather than an overall engagement rate, because Instagram distribution is now mostly recommendation driven and a follower based rate tells you less than it used to. If their recent reach is well above their follower count, a figure above the table is defensible.
Then check what the quote includes. Organic post only, or paid usage as well? One format, or a post plus Stories? One market, or worldwide? Our engine multiplies a post rate by 1.4 for three months of paid ads, so a quote that already includes paid rights is not comparable to one that does not, and comparing them as if they were is the most common way an Instagram budget gets misread.
Questions people ask
How much do Instagram influencers charge per post?
Our planning engine puts a 10,000 follower feed post at $85 typical and a 100,000 follower post at $700, at Instagram's typical 2.5% engagement rate with organic use only. Reels price higher at a 1.5 format factor.
Is a Reel more expensive than a feed post?
Yes. Our engine applies a 1.5 factor to a Reel and 0.4 to a Story set, against a feed post at 1. A Reel is more production work and more distribution, so it carries both.
Is an Instagram influencer cheaper than a UGC creator?
Usually the opposite, if what you need is content. A UGC video at micro tier is $225 typical in our model with no audience fee attached, while an influencer post at similar size prices the audience as well as the content.
