What creator outreach is
Creator outreach is the step where a brand contacts creators it wants to hire, usually by email or direct message, and makes a specific offer. A good first message says who the brand is, why this creator was chosen, what the job involves, what it pays or gives, and what to reply. Follow-ups are part of outreach, not an extra.
It sits between creator sourcing, which finds the names, and creator onboarding, which starts once someone says yes. Outreach is also different from posting a job on a creator marketplace: there the creator applies to you, while outreach means you go first.
How it works for UGC brands
Email beats DMs for anything involving money, because creators manage deals from their inbox and DMs get buried under fan messages. Personalise one line by naming a specific video of theirs, then state the offer plainly. Vague openers about wanting to collaborate get ignored because the creator cannot price them.
Plan two follow-ups, a few days apart, each shorter than the last. Track replies per sequence so you learn which subject lines and offers work. The longer playbook is in UGC creator outreach for brands, and the outreach email generator drafts a first version.
Example email
Subject: Paid UGC for a dog treat brand, 2 videos. Body: Hi Sam, your video teaching your beagle to wait at the door is exactly the tone we want. We make single-ingredient training treats and need two 30-second videos for our ads. Budget is a flat fee plus product. Can I send the one-page brief?
It is short, it names a real video, it says paid, and the question at the end needs only a yes. The follow-up three days later is two lines: a reminder of the offer and the date the brief closes.
Common mistakes
Hiding the pay. Creators sort brand email by whether it is paid, and a message that says nothing about money is usually read as a gifting request.
Sending one template to hundreds of creators at once from a new domain. Deliverability suffers, replies arrive faster than anyone can answer, and the creators who fit best get the same generic message as everyone else. Send in batches the team can actually handle.
How it's used
Outreach for the treat brand goes out Monday: forty creators, personalised first line, two follow-ups. Say paid in the subject line.
Reply rate on the DM outreach is poor. Let's move the rest of the list to email and mention the budget up front.
