UGC campaign

A UGC campaign is a planned effort to source creators, commission content to a brief, and run that content in ads or owned channels toward a defined goal.

What a UGC campaign includes

The word campaign implies a plan, not a single video. A UGC campaign has a goal (say, a new hook for retargeting ads), a brief, a set of creators, a production timeline, agreed usage rights, and a way to measure the results. It is distinct from ad-hoc UGC content you collect from customers.

Most campaigns are small. A first pass might be eight creators, two videos each, delivered over three weeks, tested against your current best ad. Scale comes later once you know which formats and creator profiles work.

The seven steps

1. Brief: write the goal, product, audience, formats, hooks to test, length, and rights. 2. Source creators: find people whose content and audience match the buyer, not just the category. 3. Outreach: send a short, specific offer with the fee and deliverables. 4. Contract: confirm scope, deadline, usage rights, revisions, and payment terms in writing. 5. Produce: ship product, answer questions, review drafts against the brief. 6. Test: run the videos with equal budget and read hook rate, hold rate, and cost per result. 7. Scale: put budget behind winners and re-brief the creators who made them.

Steps two and three take the most operator time. Creator sourcing is where UGC Agent fits, returning creator lists with contact details so the campaign moves from brief to outreach without a manual search.

A campaign brief in one paragraph

"Goal: three new top-of-funnel ads for the travel pillow. Creators: 6 to 10, frequent flyers, US-based, 5k to 80k followers. Deliverables per creator: one 30-second demo and one 20-second testimonial, vertical, captions on, plus raw footage. Rights: 90 days paid social, organic on brand channels ongoing. Deadline: 14 days from product arrival. Budget: fee per video plus product."

That level of detail lets creators quote accurately and lets you compare offers. Vague briefs get vague videos.

How it's used

  1. "The Q4 UGC campaign is ten creators, two demos each, all delivered by October 20 so we can test before Black Friday."

  2. "Write the UGC campaign brief first; we'll source creators against it, not the other way around."
