What a revision round is
A revision round is one complete cycle in which the brand reviews a creator's deliverable, sends consolidated feedback, and the creator returns an updated version. UGC agreements state how many rounds the fee includes, often one or two, and charge for extra rounds or reshoots. The cap protects the creator's time and forces the brand to give clear feedback.
A revision is not a reshoot. Revisions fix things within footage that exists: trimming, swapping a caption, re-recording a line of voiceover, reordering clips. A reshoot means filming again, and most agreements price it separately or allow it only when the creator missed the brief. Write both definitions down so the boundary is not argued later.
How revision rounds work in practice
Good teams place the rounds at two checkpoints: a script or concept stage before filming, where changes are cheap, and an edit stage after. Feedback in each round comes from one person, in one message, with every requested change listed. Three people replying separately over two days is several rounds pretending to be one.
The content approval process decides who sends that message and how fast, and the creator brief decides how much of the feedback should never be needed. Most revision disputes trace back to a requirement that was in someone's head but not on the page.
A worked example
A fintech app books four videos with two revision rounds each. Round one, on the scripts, replaces a claim about interest rates that compliance cannot approve. Round two, on the edits, asks for larger captions and a cut that drops the first second of dead air. All four videos are approved without a third round.
On one video the brand then decides it wants a different setting entirely. That is a reshoot, not a revision, so it is quoted separately at an agreed fraction of the per-video fee. The creator's time is respected and the brand still gets the version it wants.
Common mistakes
Asking for changes the brief never mentioned, then calling them revisions. If the brand only decides after seeing the edit that the product should appear in a bathroom, that is new direction. Check feedback against the brief before sending it.
Drip-feeding notes is the second habit to break, along with leaving the cap out of the agreement entirely. Creators price uncertainty, so an uncapped revision clause usually means a higher quote. See what UGC costs to sense-check what a base fee should cover.
How it's used
Please consolidate notes before 3pm. Whatever goes to the creator today counts as our second and final revision round.
Scope: two revision rounds per video, one at script and one at edit; reshoots quoted separately.
